Skyline's Technical Theatre Program
Unique to Skyline High School, our technical theatre program is entirely student-run under the mentorship of select adult theatre professionals. There are a myriad of opportunities for student leadership positions. In our program, your voice and ideas matter--we want to hear from you and get creative together on how to bring it to life on stage!

Student Leadership Positions
Working toward a student leadership position in tech is so worth it and can increase your chances of receiving college scholarships or success in a tech field. We have the following opportunities available after you've had some experience in our program:
- Stage management
- Student directing
- Student choreographer
- Student producer

Costumes/Hair & Makeup
Our thriving Costume, Hair & Makeup Department is a creative powerhouse where imagination meets craftsmanship. From designing and constructing stunning costumes to mastering theatrical makeup, wigs, and special effects, students develop hands-on skills as they transform scripts into living works of art. Whether recreating historical fashions, inventing fantasy worlds, or perfecting the smallest detail, our students collaborate, innovate, and problem-solve in a fast-paced, professional environment.
Tech (Set Building & Construction)
Our Set Design & Construction Department transforms blank theatre spaces into extraordinary worlds. Combining creativity, craftsmanship, and collaboration, students learn to design, build, paint, and engineer the environments that bring stories to life. From drafting innovative scenic designs to constructing full-scale sets and mastering scenic painting techniques, students gain valuable hands-on experience while working as part of a dedicated production team. Whether creating a cozy living room, a bustling city street, or a magical kingdom, our students turn imagination into reality.
Props & Set Painting
Our Props & Scenic Painting Department is where creativity, artistry, and craftsmanship come together to transform every production into a believable world. Students design, build, and handcraft one-of-a-kind props while mastering scenic painting techniques that add depth, texture, and realism to every set. From aging furniture and faux finishes to creating oversized fantasy props and intricate period details, every brushstroke and handcrafted piece helps tell the story. Our students discover that the magic of theatre often lies in the elements audiences don't even realize they're admiring.
Lights & Sound
Every cue, every spotlight, and every perfectly timed sound effect helps transform a performance into an unforgettable experience. Our Lighting & Sound Department allows students to work with state-of-the-art theatrical technology while developing the technical expertise and problem-solving skills used by industry professionals. Students learn to design dynamic lighting, program intelligent fixtures, operate digital sound systems, and manage live productions with precision and confidence. Beyond the theatre, these hands-on experiences build valuable skills in technology, teamwork, communication, and leadership. We help to prepare students for careers in live entertainment, engineering, event production, broadcasting, and countless other technical fields.
